Metaphoric Perceptions of School Principal Candidates: Being a School Principal

The purpose of this research is to determine the perceptions vice-principals and teachers, who are candidate principals, about being a school principal through metaphors. For purpose, principals produced metaphors regarding concept principal. In qualitatively designed research, phenomenology design used. teachers attending series in-service training courses held for in Nicosia during 2018-2019 academic year constituted study group study. Research data were collected using semi-structured interview form. form included metaphorical definition reason produce mentioned metaphor. To analyze content analysis method was applied. revealed twenty-six These gathered under nine categories by researchers. namely guiding principal, protecting diligent negatively behaving balancing superior power user acting as source information indispensable most metaphor called conductor. A similar commander, an orchestra conductor, theatre artist, bull, mirror, clock, mother/father, bridge, acting, state, lion, nervous system building foundation. classified eleven repeated category.
